Coniston, Cumbria

Herdwick sheep in Coniston, Cumbria with long grass and trees in the background.

We recently stayed in Coniston for a couple of nights at The Coniston Inn.  This hotel is wheelchair friendly with ramp access and a lift to the bedrooms.  Level parking area and garden area.  They offer accessible rooms which, I understand are more spacious than a normal bedroom and they also have a wet room.  Unfortunately, I was not able to view one of the accessible bedrooms, but we did see guests in wheelchairs in the bar area who were staying at the hotel.

Coniston is approximately an 80 minute drive from The Estuary and it is one of the quieter places to visit in Cumbria.  As a couple looking for a quiet break Coniston ticked all the boxes.  When you are nearing Coniston, the scenery is breath-taking and always makes me smile. There is something about the lake and surrounding countryside that almost automatically makes you relax.  For anyone interested in staying at The Coniston Inn or finding out more information please click here.
